Carnival Corporation is the largest cruise vacation group in the world
Florida’s Carnival Corporation, parent company to Princess Cruises has today signed a memorandum of agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantari for two
new ships under the Princess brand to debut in 2013 and 2014.
The two new ships, each at 139,000 tons will be the largest in the Princess Fleet, holding 3,600 passengers at double capacity. At a price of about $768 million the new ships will be almost 20% larger than any other in the fleet, competing in size with other new mega-ships recently introduced. Slightly larger than Carnival’s new Carnival Dream, the new ships will dwarf Princess’ latest ship, Ruby Princess which debuted in 2008.
The two new ship have not yet been named.
