Your tropical vacation awaits, a mere six weeks to fit into your bikini – panic ensues! Not to worry, you can make this a reality. You\’ve set a goal to look great in your bikini, now let\’s create some objectives to reach this goal.
Step #1: Make your goals visible. What is your current fitness program? Is it time to change things up? Make a plan of what you need to do to modify your health, fitness and nutrition.
Objective #2: Let others know what your goals are – you need to be accountable to someone (and sometimes it needs to be someone other than yourself!)
The third step is to look at what you are eating. Write in a journal the typical foods you eat on a daily basis. Are you eating cookies, candies, alcohol? Think moderation when wanting a treat! Are you eating protein to feed your muscles? Are you eating whole grains to feed your brain and give you energy? Are you eating plenty of fruits and veggies to provide your body with essential vitamins. Are you eating only a few times per day (2-3), and not giving your body the energy it needs? Or are you providing your body with adequate energy by eating small, frequent meals (4-6)?
The fourth step is to move your body. You need to add some weight training and cardiovascular exercise – this means hard work! In order for your body to look beautiful in your bikini you are going to need to lift some weight. This will aid in creating shapely tummies, thighs, and buns; eliminating unwanted calories; and increasing overall energy. Now you add cardiovascular exercise – you raise the bar by adding high intensity intervals to your program. This means adding hills to your workouts, skip rope, walk to run intervals, or changing the intensity on the elliptical every few minutes. What you are looking for here is quality of the intervals not quantity!
Step #5: Plan out a path to put all of the above steps into a consistent program. You will look fabulous in your itty, bitty bikini if you are consistent with your nutrition and exercise goals!
