One of the Golden Bulb Awards given out last week by Theare7 Founder Derek Stonebarger was for Best Debut Director and that honor was shared by brothers Michael and Jerry Thompson for “Thor at the Bus Stop”. Filmmakers Notebook had the chance to speak with both Mike and Derek after the Golden Bulb was presented and learned some exciting news about both VIFF! (Vegas Independent Film Festival) debuting in November, 2011 and the Thompson Brothers upcoming plans.
First of all, those who may still be unaware of it VIFF! will be offering arthouse distribution contracts to the winners of the feature, shorts, documentary, web series and experimental categories. Derek spoke more about this as well as other specifics about the festival, which has been selected as an IMDb qualifier by Without a Box.
As for Mike, he and brother Jerry may have a DVD distribution deal in the works for “Thor at the Bus Stop”, which he shared some information about along with news about what’s next for the Thompsons during our interview.
