One of the highlights of the Vegas IndieMeet for me was the chance to interview filmmaker Chet Simmons for Filmmakers Notebook. At last year’s event Chet gave an impressive demo sharing info about his Canon 7D camera. This year he was tapped to share his knowledge about lighting. Chet, who has been shooting commercials for years, before beginning his current project a documentary about a man having a sex change that is currently in post production. The head of Laughing Dog Productions also has a drama that is now in development.
Being a budget conscious filmmaker Chet has learned a lot working with his Canon 7D and shares what he likes about this camera as well as some of the drawbacks he’s found and learned to overcome. In addition, we spoke quite a bit about lighting equipment and Chet offers some great info in this area during the interview, so kick back and have a listen.
