Mustang pace car

Is this the year of the Mustang pace car? We just received word from Ford Motor Company that the 2011 Mustang has yet again been chosen as the official pace car for a Nascar race. This time around it’ll be the V6 that gets the honors during the Food Land 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 21st.

“This is Mustang that delivers the power and fuel efficiency customers want,” said Ford Mustang Brand Manager, Fritz Wilke. “To get 305 horsepower and 31 miles per gallon has never been done before in a production vehicle. In fact this new Mustang could do the entire 500-mile race on one tank of gas.”

This is the third time a 2011 Mustang will pace a Nascar race this year alone. In February the 2011 Mustang GT was given the prestige of pacing the Daytona 500, the first time a Ford vehicle has paced that race in 40 years. Then just a few weeks ago the 2011 Shelby GT350 paced the Shelby American race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
