Guyana-bound container vessel sinks off St. Lucia
A container vessel loaded with cargo bound for Guyana sank off the Coast of St. Lucia some time between Sunday night and yesterday morning.
The vessel, ‘Angel N’, which is registered with Bernuth Lines had just left Port Castries when it encountered problems and sank with its entire cargo.
It was scheduled to make a stop in Barbados before travelling to Guyana.
Fortunately the crewmembers were rescued and taken to safety.
The vessel was loaded with US$40,000 of printers’ ink for this newspaper among other cargo.
An official at the Demerara Shipping Company, the local agent for Bernuth Lines, confirmed the sinking of the container vessel.
However, the local agents are still awaiting further information on how the vessel sank.
While most if not all of the cargo may be unsalvageable, the official said that more than likely the consignees will not suffer financial losses, since the items were insured.

Coming from the US I noticed none of the internet search engines regarding flights include Jet Blue. Are they a new carrier for Barbados or have they flown under the radar (sorry for the pun)? Coming from Boston their price was ridiculously low when I booked a month ago in comparison to others. Originally Barbados wasn’t the destination I had in mind but when I saw $169 per person from Boston getting there, and $189 per person getting back I had to take advantage (doesn’t include taxes). Is this normal, or did I stumble onto something?
Really like your comment. Maybe bathroom sink might assist someone there.
any questions??? it was a great place, we had a wonderful holiday. we walked once to the Gap, took a catamaran trip to feed turtles, and did a quick trip to Oisten’s…..other than that, we stayed on the resort. So, ask away!!
