Today, we are arriving at the beautiful romantic island of St. Lucia. Having read and heard so many nice things about this island, I just cannot wait to see it for myself and explore it.
The ship made its way into the calm waters of St. Lucia’s port at 7:00am this morning under a clear blue sky with puffy white clouds. From the top deck of the Caribbean Princess, charming, pastel-coloured colonial buildings could be seen on the island.
The capital of St. Lucia is Castries where 50,000 people live whereas 160,000 live elsewhere on the island. It measures 14 miles (east/west) and 27 miles (north/south) and English is the official ![]()
. The island draws tourists from around the world who come here for its exotic tropical landscape, superb beaches, crystalline waters, colourful marine life and lets not forget, romance.
Once off the ship, we followed our guide to our air-conditioned mini bus where we drove through the capital (Castries) viewing the colourful buildings, houses and landscape. Picture perfect.
Our first stop was at Morne Fortune where we had a dramatic overview of the harbour below and of the town. Far away, the island’s trademark “The Pitons” could be seen. The view was breathtaking. At that exact moment, I thought to myself, how I wished I could live here, on this beautiful exotic island, having this wonderful view in front of me, with tropical foliage and blue crystal waters! SSSight… No harm dreaming!
