In the 1800′s naval & military Battle around St. Lucia,

Plan of St. Lucia in the West Indies. Shewing the Positions of the English & French Forces with the Attacks Made at Its Reduction in Dec. 1778.” London. This is a wonderful map depicting the battle between the English & French Forces on & around the Island of St. Lucia in the West Indies in December 1778. The rich Colonies in the Caribbean were of great importance to the English, French, Dutch, Danes & Spanish in the 18th century, so many battles with naval & military forces took place around St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Martinique and other islands during this time and information about the battles was sent back to London where maps were drawn and issued in the Gentleman’s Magazine – a popular current events publication sold at newsagents in London on a monthly basis. This attractive little map depicts drawings of the ships, courses & careenage, & the place at Choc Bay where the French landed on December 16th, 1778. ?
