Is the computer that runs your car safe from viruses?

What   happen with Toyota’s  Cars made me think  of all the new computer systems in new cars that use wiresless network . These computer systems control everthing ; gas, brakes, door looks, steering it called drive by wire , meaning  a computer signal control  brakes, steering  and so on .

Well  I did  some research  and found out that my fears were right, scientist were already  worried about this issue.

Here is what worries me, the fact that  sooner or later the hackers will find the vulnerability in the operating systems of on-board computers and … will definitely use it.

A spokesman for German carmaker BMW a principle it is possible to plant something (a virus), and we have been working for many years to resolve the problem.

In  2007  TomTom reported that viruses had  found their way into the navigation systems . Tom Tom conceded that an isolated number of its Go 910 navigation systems may have been infected with Windows malware.

The I  came across  this article about  an all my child show  they story line was built around this subject

The  Toyota’s company’s second attempt to find a quick fix for unintended acceleration in its conventionally-powered vehicles is barely underway, and already evidence is emerging that the underlying problem is likely in the engine controller, not in the pedal mechanical assembly. And now we hear from Japan that the Prius, Toyota’s golden child, has a problem with its brake-by-wire control system.
